Prominent
Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum died in Dhaka. She was
84. She was best known for singing Nazrul Sangeet, a musical work
composed by Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. She recorded her first
Islamic song by Gramophone record company in 1942. Firoza Begum was
honoured with the Independence Day Award in 1979 and the Sheltech Award
in 2000.
